A silt fence, is a temporary sediment control device used on construction sites to protect water quality in nearby streams, rivers, lakes and seas from sediment (loose soil) in storm water runoff. Silt fences are widely used on construction sites globally, due to their low cost and simple design.
Silt fences can be considered at the bottom of the ravines to trap sediment washing down the slopes and on areas subjected to sediment accumulation.
Silt fence’s typically come in 500mm, coarse, nonwoven, polypropylene, staple fiber geotextile combined with a polyester reinforcing mesh and colored to blend naturally with the landscape for aesthetic appeal. Silt fence is placed vertically on posts to prevent sediment carried by water migrating downstream or down slopes
